Furious protesters barred from entering Hendon Town Hall could still be heard in the council chamber as the 51st Mayor of Barnet was sworn in last night.

Campaigners tried to force their way into the building after confronting council leader Richard Cornelius with petitions about evictions at the Sweets Way and West Hendon housing estates.
